Lohi Journal is your guide to a sustainable lifestyle, with focus on travelling.. Lohi – the Hawaiian word for “slow” – is about looking at the world in a more holistic way, learning about the history and traditions of the places that we enjoy visiting. Our perspective is both inspirational and educational, giving new ideas about old favourites while also visiting places off the beaten track.
We, Tomas Falmer and Philip Warkander, founded Lohi Journal together.
Photographer Tomas could easily have become an architect instead. His recurring use of geometric lines, shadows, ad natural light reveals a distinctly architectural point of view. Having worked as a fashion photographer all around the world, he has developed an international sense of style. Clients include Piaget, BMW, Lexus, Volvo, GQ, Vogue, Harrods, and Liberty of London.
Since Philip Warkander completed his PhD in fashion studies at the Centre of Fashion Studies, Stockholm University, he has worked as a scholar, writer, and curator. He has published several books on fashion and worked as a fashion researcher and lecturer at Istituto Marangoni in Paris, Lund University, and The Swedish School of Textiles. He has also worked as a writer, speaker and consultant in the fashion industry. Clients include Prada, Zegna, Our Legacy, ELLE Magazine, and the Modern Museum of Art in Stockholm.
Our background in fashion is clearly visible, even when we write about hotels, food, or wine. It is about a certain sensibility; a way of focusing on the beauty in the world around us. We want to share with you tips on where to go and what to eat. Sometimes, we will include reviews on books that are perfect to read while on holiday or visit a biodynamic vineyard in Italy or France to let you know what wine to drink.
The reason that we created Lohi is simply because we want to share with others all the beautiful places we have been, great food we’ve tried. We will do this in a way marked by the years that we spent working in fashion; with attention to detail and knowing that image is just as important as text. We hope you like it!
