I love this kind of hyper local travel guide. Thank you for sharing! We just bought a small house in a lovely, relatively untouristed city in Umbria. Every time I write about it, though, I experience this stab of guilt that I might be pushing our small town one step closer to an unsustainable level of tourism. Do you think j that’s something we should worry about?
I completely understand you concern, but I don't think there's any reason to worry. Most people still want to see "the greatest hits" of Italy when they visit.
And I think our neighbors that run restaurants, shops, and small hotels would welcome more guests – in many of these small villages, more people are moving out than in, and so temporary visitors are very much encouraged!
I do hope that’s the case. I’m planning to turn our unfinished cellar into a little bookshop, so I hope to do my small part to attract customers for the other businesses in town. Narni is actually quite big as Italian towns go, but the historic centre is quite small.
Welcome welcome! I hope your renovations go swiftly & smoothly. As soon as ours our finished a trip to your part of the works sounds delightful.
Thank you!
